Fashion Design

This course is an excellent entry point into designing for the fashion industry. It covers developing the skills and knowledge to: follow a design process, explore the world of colour, experiment and apply creative design to both 2D and 3D, use a domestic sewing machine to create fashion designs, draw technical fashion drawings, modify basic patterns to create basic styles, and produce creative fashion design concepts. The course is very practical in nature and students will be required to complete some work at home and undertake research in their own time.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Have your experience recognised and increase your employment prospects by enrolling in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Through RPL you could reduce the duration of your studies. Get the recognition you deserve and enquire about RPL today.

RPL assessed on a case by case basis, so it is only available on application. Students will be charged $200 per unit of competency.

VET In Schools:

This course is suitable for high school students to complete as part of the 'VET in Schools' program. The course has been structured so that the finish date is in accordance with the VET reporting dates to the Qld Studies Authority to allow students in Year 12 to have this course contribute to their high school certificate.

Students who are going in to year 10, 11 or 12 and are interested in completing this course, should contact us to receive the course enrolment pack. We recommend that they then visit their school careers councilor or VET coordinator to discuss their interest in undertaking the course with them, prior to enrolling.

As this is a certificate III program, successful completion of this course will enable students to obtain 8 points towards their high school certificate.

Course Duration:

The course is delivered over a year on Fridays from 9am-3:30pm.

Course Fees

Upon enrolling in the course, the student (and guarantor/s) becomes liable to the institute for the full course fees.

Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Fashion Design) - Part Time:

Full Course Cost (Payment Plan): $3,900.00
  • Balance paid in weekly direct debit instalments (with integraPAY) over course duration: $3,600.00
Certificate 3 Guarantee

This course is eligible for funding under the QLD Certificate 3 Guarantee. If you meet the eligibility requirements the Queensland Government will fund the majority of your tuition fees and you will only be required to pay the student co-contribution fee.

Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless network connection. The following minimum specifications are required:

  • 2.5Ghz or faster processor
  • Web Browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari) (free online)
  • Anti Virus - Students will not be allowed to connect to our network without Anti Virus software installed and activated.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (free online)
  • Microsoft Office 2007 or higher (require Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
