MST30816 - Certificate III in Applied Fashion Design & Technology: Clothing Technician

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to work in applied design and production roles within the clothing and fashion industry.

This qualification is suitable for workers producing fashion products with a basic understanding of sewing skills for garment alterations, specialist machinist, support roles in pattern making, cutting garments, marker making and production of garments. It is aimed at reskilling and reentering the workforce.

Items to be produced would include a single or small range of products. This qualification is particularly suitable for those who are self-employed undertaking low volume production of items for local distribution outlets, for example, markets and thos epeople looking for good job prospects in garment manufacturing.

Certificate III in Applied Fashion Design and Technology Clothing Technician:

Full Course Cost (Payment Plan): $4,500.00
  • Balance paid in weekly direct debit instalments (with integraPAY) over course duration: $4,050.00
Certificate 3 Guarantee

This course is eligible for funding under the QLD Certificate 3 Guarantee. If you meet the eligibility requirements the Queensland Government will fund the majority of your tuition fees and you will only be required to pay the student co-contribution fee.

Qualification & Units of Competency

Students who successfully complete all of the units listed below will receive the nationally recognised MST30816: Certificate III in Applied Fashion Design & Technology - Clothing Technician qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Have your experience recognised and increase your employment prospects by enrolling in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Through RPL you could reduce the duration of your studies. Get the recognition you deserve and enquire about RPL today.

RPL assessed on a case by case basis, so it is only available on application. Students will be charged $200 per unit of competency.

Required Equipment/Additional Costs

  • Student ID ($25)
  • Basic stationary - pens, pencils, notebook, A4 folders, and access to the internet away from the college
  • Sewing equipment (approx. $50)
  • Laptop computer (specifications below)
  • USB thumb drive (2GB recommended)
  • A sewing machine at home
  • Fabrics and haberdashery for garments made during the course. Costs will vary depending on student's design choices
  • Enclosed footwear for all lessons
  • Student (kits/ course supplies) are available for purchase through the college

LAPTOP / NOTEBOOK MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer for study with a wireless network connection. The following minimum specifications are required:

  • Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n
  • Minimum 4Gb RAM
  • 2.5Ghz or faster processor
  • Web Browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari) (free online)
  • Anti-Virus Software.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (free online)
  • Microsoft Office 2007 or higher (Students require Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
