The Certificate III in Nail Technology course is for people aspiring to work as a nail technician necessary to work in a beauty or nail salon, or as a freelancer! You will learn the artistic skills required to apply gel and acrylic nail enhancements as well as relaxing cosmetic beauty treatments, manicure and pedicure.

Additionally, business units will help to develop a broad range of knowledge relating to the beauty industry, retail sales, merchandising and customer service to help you on your way to establishing and marketing yourself as a nail technician. Qualification & Units of Competency

Our Certificate III in Nail Technology is a nationally accredited course, and on successful completion of the course, students will receive the nationally recognised SHB30315 - Certificate III in Nail Technology qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Do you have 2 or more years industry relevant experience? Have your experience recognised and increase your employment prospects by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Through RPL you could reduce the duration of your studies. RPL assessed on a case by case basis, so it is only available upon application.

*Students will be charged an administration fee of $200 per unit of competency.

Upon enrolling in the course, the student (and guarantor/s) becomes liable to the institute for the full course fees.

Certificate III in Nail Technology (Evening Course):

Full Course Cost: $3,720.00
Certificate 3 Guarantee

This course is eligible for funding under the QLD Certificate 3 Guarantee. If you meet the eligibility requirements the Queensland Government will fund the majority of your tuition fees and you will only be required to pay the student co-contribution fee.

Student Co-Contribution Fee: $1440

If you are not eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee funding:

Required Equipment/Additional Costs

  • Student ID Card: $25
  • Enclosed Black Shoes
  • Printing and Photocopying by student
  • Basic Stationary
  • A laptop or tablet device for viewing/accessing course notes and taking notes. Internet access at home is also required.
  • Australian Institute of Creative Design t’shirt
  • An additional student nail kit is to be purchased by the student

Students will be required to source outside models throughout the duration of the course - models may be needed for consecutive weeks on occasion


Nationally Recognised TrainingStudents who successfully complete the course will receive the nationally recognised Certificate III in Nail Technology (SHB30315) qualification.

Graduates are eligible for enrolment in the Diploma of Beauty Therapy course and will be eligible for direct credit for units completed in this course.


Course Duration:

The course runs part time over 18 weeks (Tuesday and Wednesday evenings each week OR Saturday each week)
